About The Position

Team Health and Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an excellent opportunity for a Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN) at Shelby County Jail in Sidney, Ohio. The LPN will be providing Correctional Medical care for those housed at at the Shelby County Jail. This position offers PT and PRN coverage with flexible scheduling, 28-32 hours per week, with optional shifts of 4, 8 or 12 hours (includes every other weekend). The role involves providing a range of medical care to an adult population, including primary, addiction, urgent, and behavioral health care. The work is socially meaningful, addressing the needs of a marginalized population, and offers a large degree of medical autonomy within extensive nursing guidelines. It is considered a safer setting than many other healthcare environments due to strict safety and security protocols.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by a state agency or accredited by the ACEN
  • A minimum of 12 months of experience in a primary care setting within the last 24 months
  • Active, unrestricted OH LPN license
  • BLS from the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of medical care to include primary, addiction, urgent and behavioral health care
  • Free from coding, billing, insurance, satisfaction surveys, ICD-10 and DRGS
  • Care is evidence based. We address needs, not wants
  • Address a vast array of medical pathology that is not seen in any one other healthcare location
  • Work is socially meaningful as patients are a socially marginalized and lack ordinary access to medical care whether due to lack of insurance, mental illness or homelessness (for anyone interested in addiction medicine or mental health)
  • Exercise a large degree of medical autonomy and free of micromanaging
  • Adhere to extensive nursing guidelines in place
