The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. This role involves demonstrating knowledge of nursing principles, practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise, and utilizing age and population-specific standards. The LPN will assess resident status, provide necessary care, recognize and respond to problems and emergencies, and ensure resident health, comfort, and safety. Responsibilities include contributing to resident assessments, administering medications and treatments, providing technical support, documenting resident interactions and outcomes, and counseling residents and families on prevention and treatment plans. The position also requires developing self-care programs and performing other related duties as assigned. The role emphasizes effective working relationships within an interdisciplinary team and clear communication with residents, healthcare providers, and the public, while maintaining confidentiality.
