About The Position

This LPN role is for an individual looking for a change from traditional bedside nursing, focusing on supporting young people who need consistency, compassion, and advocacy. At Four Oaks, nurses play a crucial role in the health, safety, and success of youth in their programs. The position offers the opportunity to build relationships, educate, advocate, and make a significant impact beyond typical nursing duties. The role involves coordinating and providing nursing care, administering medications, assessing health concerns, providing medical triage, coordinating appointments, managing medical documentation, overseeing medication management, maintaining records, providing TB testing, educating youth and staff on health topics, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The role also requires recognizing and reporting health concerns and providing nursing oversight for safety protocols. Occasional on-call duties are also part of the position.

Requirements

  • Active Iowa LPN License in good standing.
  • Ability to work on an on-call rotational schedule.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently / self directed.
  • Effective problem solving abilities.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications safely and accurately.
  • Assess health concerns and determine when additional medical care is needed.
  • Provide medical triage and coordinate appropriate interventions.
  • Help coordinate medical, psychiatric, and psychological appointments and services.
  • Manage physician orders, appointments, medication records, and required medical documentation.
  • Oversee medication management procedures, including proper distribution, storage, and return of medications.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records.
  • Provide TB testing within established guidelines.
  • Help educate youth and staff on health and wellness topics.
  • Provide training in areas such as CPR, First Aid, and health education.
  • Review medication errors and participate in continuous quality improvement.
  • Recognize and appropriately report health, safety, and public health concerns.
  • Provide nursing oversight related to established safety and behavioral protocols.
  • Participate in periodic on-call needs, including occasional daytime and overnight situations.
