About The Position

Under general supervision, provides preventative and health care to an assigned group of patients or clients in the OU Health facility. Essential responsibilities include assisting with nursing assessments through data collection, observation, and obtaining vital signs on assigned patients. Provides care according to an established nursing plan, observes changes in patient's condition and notifies supervisory personnel if significant changes occur. Performs routine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding, and discontinuation of oral-gastric tubes. Initiates and monitors oxygen therapy according to physician orders or unit protocol. Suctions and cleans tracheotomy sites. May administer various forms of medications. Prepares patients for routine physical examinations and assists the physician during examinations. An LPN can function in the role of Surgical Tech if the position is in the operating room. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of education requirements for NCLEX-PN examination.
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing OR a current multistate LPN License (eNLC) required.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, plan, and evaluate nursing needs of assigned patients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Must be knowledgeable about operating room techniques if applying for a surgery position.

Responsibilities

  • An LPN can function in the role of Surgical Tech if position open is in the operating room.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
