The Lead LPN assists the Nurse Manager and provider in the coordination of care for all clients, ensuring the delivery of quality, competent nursing care. Requirements

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in New Jersey.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of continuous quality improvement techniques.
  • Awareness and understanding of applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies, including CARF, Office of Mental Health, DDAP, and other applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of substance use disorder and co-occurring disorder treatment.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, confidentiality requirements, infection prevention practices, medication administration, and nursing standards.
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or ability to obtain as required.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
  • Ability to lead continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking, troubleshooting, and clinical decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information to solve problems and improve processes.

Responsibilities

  • Directly report to Nurse Manager any client concerns/status changes and staff issues.
  • Seek supervision and direction from Nurse Manager or physician for nursing assessments, transfers, discharges, and treatment plans under the supervision of an RN.
  • Attend treatment team meetings and report pertinent information back to the department.
  • Collaborate with providers and other staff within the treatment team to resolve client concerns or coordinate care.
  • Ensure timely completion of all necessary paperwork for client care, including screenings, assessments, and treatment planning.
  • Review bed board daily and communicate any concerns with the Admissions Department immediately.
  • Ensure timely medication administrations and refer all medication errors to Nurse Manager.
  • Assist with the orientation of new employees and offer constructive feedback and direction.
  • Ensure all medical equipment is in proper working order and document daily logs and calibrations.
  • Ensure proper documentation, administration, and use of facility Narcan kits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assists with the day-to-day leadership, coaching, scheduling, training, competency validation, and performance support of nursing staff.
  • May provide operational oversight in the absence of the Nurse Manager or Director of Nursing.
  • This position may participate in interviewing, orientation, competency evaluations, and performance management as delegated.
