About The Position

The LPN Inpatient works in the Emergency Department at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. This is a full-time evening/night position with every-other-weekend and rotating holiday work. The LPN provides practical nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, supporting patient care delivery, treatment implementation, and care coordination. The role collaborates with the healthcare team to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care in the inpatient setting.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• AHA BLS-HCP certification.
• Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.
• Able to meet essential job functions.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse or physician.
• Participate in the nursing process, including data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized interdisciplinary plans of care.
• Identify patient, family, and caregiver educational needs and incorporate education into the plan of care.
• Implement prescribed treatments and therapeutic interventions.
• Administer medications in accordance with provider orders and scope of practice.
• Apply knowledge of growth and development to deliver age-appropriate care.
• Advocate for patients and support their rights, providing psychological, social, and cultural support.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
• Support performance improvement initiatives and contribute to quality outcomes.
• Participate in orientation and development of new staff.
• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to service excellence.
• Support the organizational mission, vision, and values and comply with policies and procedures.
