The LPN I position contributes and collects data for the assessment of patient health assessments or research protocol requirements. This role provides patient care as directed, administers medications and treatments as ordered, and contributes to the evaluation of the patient's response to nursing interventions. The LPN I participates in the development, maintenance, or modification of the nursing plan of care/research protocol, integrating age-specific and culturally inclusive concepts. This role interacts with other members of the health care/research team regarding the patient plan of care/research protocol, maintains organizational and regulatory requirements, and identifies and reports safety concerns. The LPN I ensures patients and families feel welcome, safe, valued, and respected, incorporating culturally inclusive concepts into patient care and engaging the patient and family to recognize the potential impact of culture on their experience. The LPN I functions at the direction of, and in conjunction with, the Registered Nurse (RN) or providers in providing direct care to infant, child, adolescent, and young adult patients and their families within the parameters of the Performance Standards for Practical Nurses.
