About The Position

Jamestown Healing Clinic is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispensing Nurse I – LPN to join our integrated care team. This role supports a collaborative clinic environment that combines primary care, dental, behavioral health, and opioid use disorder treatment. The Dispensing Nurse is responsible for administering medications as ordered, maintaining strict medication accountability, and ensuring compliance with all DEA, FDA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current, unrestricted LPN license in Washington State
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinic experience
  • Experience using Electronic Health Records (EHRs)
  • Strong ethical standards, professional boundaries, empathy, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment and understand trauma-informed care
  • Knowledge of confidentiality regulations including 42 CFR Part 2, RCW, and WAC
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Meet current vaccination requirements
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License and ability to travel as needed
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in substance use disorder treatment and/or primary care
  • Knowledge of medical practices in primary care, mental health, and addiction medicine
  • Understanding of substance use disorders and their impact on individuals, families, and communities
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal healthcare regulations
  • Experience with office operations, compliance, and administrative processes
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Responsibilities

  • Administer Methadone or Buprenorphine/Naloxone or Monotherapy Buprenorphine (Suboxone/Subutex) as ordered by the Medical Director and providers
  • Maintain accurate accounting of all medication received and dispensed
  • Safeguard all medication stock and ensure compliance with DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, and JHC recordkeeping requirements
  • Conduct breath alcohol testing, urine collection and processing, and interpret results as needed; ensure accurate documentation
  • Work within scope of license to obtain vital signs, perform nursing assessments, provide treatment (including wound care), and patient education
  • Assess patient conditions and report observations to providers
  • Alert treatment team to changes in patient status
  • Enter and update prescriptions in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Accurately document patient encounters and incidents per required guidelines
  • Record inter-agency communications in a timely and compliant manner
  • Educate patients on proper medication use and effects
  • Maintain current statistical records
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care
  • Follow all clinic workflows and protocols established by JHC and the DEA
  • Adhere to all JHC policies, including safety standards, HIPAA, and Occupational Exposure Control Plan
  • Perform other duties as assigned
