Responsibilities

  • Support Comprehensive Patient Assessment: Contribute to the foundation of quality psychiatric care by obtaining and documenting vital signs with precision and consistency, ensuring every clinical encounter is grounded in accurate, real-time information that guides the treatment team's decisions.
  • Deliver Skilled, Compassionate Clinical Care: Administer long-acting injectable medications and other prescribed treatments with attentiveness to patient comfort and clinical safety. Draw bloodwork as directed, and proactively track screening labs for lithium, Depakote, and atypical antipsychotics — alerting providers when tests are due to ensure no patient falls behind on essential monitoring.
  • Empower Patients and Families Through Education: Serve as a trusted educational resource by providing clear, compassionate guidance on diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans as directed by the supervising provider. Extend that mission by helping patients understand general medical issues that impact mental health, supporting whole-person wellness at every interaction.
  • Facilitate Seamless Care Coordination: Act as a vital connector across the care team — coordinating with psychiatrists, therapists, primary care providers, and case managers to support continuity of care. Interface with colleagues across the Center's service lines, including women's health, pediatrics, adult medicine, internal medicine, and acute care, to ensure shared patients receive integrated, cohesive support.
  • Champion Patient Communication and Medication Access: Respond to patient calls and walk-ins by gathering information and working with providers to determine next steps, ensuring every patient feels heard and directed toward timely care. Contact patients to communicate lab results and follow-up instructions as directed, and manage medication refill requests — including I-STOP verification and queuing medications for provider review — to support uninterrupted access to treatment.
  • Navigate Prior Authorizations with Persistence: Obtain prior authorizations for medications and pursue appeals when indicated, advocating on behalf of patients to remove barriers between them and the treatments they need. Complete all patient paperwork accurately and on time, keeping documentation current in alignment with provider direction.
  • Sustain Excellence Through Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), reflecting the highest standards of clinical accountability. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings and ensure full compliance with HIPAA and all applicable regulatory standards.
