Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the LPN performs patient care activities for which they have been prepared, within the scope of the law. They function as an integral part of the nursing team, working with the registered nurse in caring for critically ill patients and those requiring detailed instruction or complex treatments. These patient populations may include newborns, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. The role requires self-direction in providing sub-acute care or performing routine duties.
