About The Position

Piedmont Eastside Medical Center is seeking a positive, self-motivated, and growth-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their 38-bed Emergency Department team. This department sees an average of 160 patients daily with various acuities and serves as a primary Stroke and Stemi receiving facility. The ED is supported by a collaborative team including Charge Nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians, and Unit Secretaries, all working with ED Providers to deliver exceptional care. The department is equipped with two helicopter pads and utilizes a POD system for patient assignment based on acuity, including a dedicated Behavioral Health Pod.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an LPN program
  • Current License in the State of Georgia as a LPN or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
  • BLS certification required
  • PALS/ACLS required ideally before start date or within 90 days of start
  • All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit

  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
  • If working in the Emergency Department, ALS/ACLS and PALS required

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or provider to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing the nursing process.
  • Functions within the framework of their license and the policy and procedures of the organization.
  • Demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
  • Guides ancillary staff and collaborates with other health care professionals in the provision of quality nursing care.
  • Blends compassion, caring, and technologically appropriate competency resulting in holistic care to the patient.
  • Performs patient assessments as designated by Registered Nurse or provider to include collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial and health history.
  • Appropriately evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments and patient/family education.
  • In collaboration with Registered Nurse or provider, organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs.
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Provides patient care that is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.
  • Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
  • Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educational goals of the patients.
  • Communicates issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.
