About The Position

BrightStar Care of St. Paul is seeking an organized, motivated, and clinically experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve as our Clinical Services Supervisor. This position provides day-to-day leadership and support to our team of LPNs while overseeing clinical operations including patient intakes, scheduling oversight, insurance authorizations, care coordination, documentation, and staff development. Unlike many office-based nursing positions, this role offers the opportunity to stay connected to patient care through occasional field visits while also leading our clinical support operations. You'll enjoy the balance of leadership, problem solving, team development, and hands-on nursing without working nights, weekends, or holidays. Requirements

  • Active Minnesota Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with occasional direct patient care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable vehicle and current automobile insurance.
  • Acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous leadership, supervisory, case management, or home care experience preferred.
  • Experience with scheduling, insurance authorizations, care coordination, and clinical documentation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and support a team of Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for LPNs, RNs, office staff, patients, and families.
  • Oversee daily clinical office operations to ensure efficient coordination of patient care.
  • Manage and coordinate new patient intakes from referral through admission.
  • Review insurance authorizations to ensure services remain compliant with payer requirements.
  • Monitor upcoming authorization expirations and coordinate timely renewals.
  • Review daily scheduling to ensure visits are appropriately staffed, authorized, and optimized.
  • Collaborate closely with Registered Nurses regarding care plans, physician orders, recertifications, supervisory visits, and changes in patient condition.
  • Assist with physician orders, verbal orders, documentation follow-up, and clinical communication.
  • Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and ongoing development of clinical staff.
  • Coach team members through workflow improvements and daily problem-solving.
  • Monitor operational metrics related to admissions, scheduling, authorizations, and skilled nursing utilization.
  • Partner with leadership to improve efficiencies, patient satisfaction, and overall clinical operations.
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission standards, BrightStar Care policies, state regulations, federal regulations, and payer requirements.
  • Collaborate with office leadership to ensure smooth daily business operations across departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Performing clinical in-home visits as needed.
  • Providing clinical support during staffing shortages or periods of increased patient demand.
  • Assisting with difficult starts of care or complex patient situations.
  • Mentoring new nurses through ride-alongs and field training.
  • Supporting quality assurance through occasional in-home observations.
  • Travel throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area to perform patient visits and provide clinical support as needed.
  • Occasionally travel to our Rochester and Duluth offices to assist with patient care, staff support, operational needs, onboarding, and training.
  • Adapt to changing business needs by providing leadership wherever support is needed.
