The Practical Nurse apprentice will rotate through 4-6 nursing areas of their choice, working under the direct supervision of an RN or the department director. The apprentice will spend 2-4 weeks observing and practicing direct nursing care for individual clients with a well-defined nursing diagnosis. Responsibilities include communicating with and on behalf of the client, coordinating client care with all health team members, and organizing nursing care responsibilities for a specific work period. Students can apply for the apprenticeship while pursuing their education, and upon licensure, can obtain paid on-the-job training hours.
