About The Position

Ravenscroft School is seeking a Lower School Teacher to join our community of educators who actively strive to create a learning environment that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. We are looking for a collaborative educator who demonstrates empathy, values authentic relationships, and brings curiosity, creativity, and a growth mindset to their work with students, families, and colleagues. The Lower School Teacher creates an engaging, student-centered classroom where children are challenged, supported, and inspired to become confident learners. This full-time, 10-month position reports to the Head of Lower School and works closely with grade-level colleagues to deliver a dynamic academic and co-curricular experience that reflects Ravenscroft's mission and educational philosophy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • Experience teaching elementary-aged students
  • Strong understanding of child development and best instructional practices for young learners
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Excellent classroom management, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technology skills and the ability to integrate technology into instruction
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field
  • Professional development and classroom experience using a Science of Reading instructional approach
  • Demonstrated success meeting the individual needs of learners through differentiated instruction
  • Experience contributing to collaborative curriculum development and professional learning communities

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction aligned with current best practices and the developmental needs of Lower School students
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of every learner
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and abilities of students
  • Utilize assessment data to inform instruction and monitor student progress
  • Build strong, positive partnerships with students, parents, and colleagues through clear and professional communication
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams to develop and implement curricular and co-curricular programming
  • Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), divisional meetings, faculty meetings, and ongoing professional development
  • Contribute to the continued development of innovative teaching practices within the Lower School
  • Participate in the broader life of the school through activities such as advising student clubs, coaching athletics, serving on committees, or supporting school events
  • Model professionalism, curiosity, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous learning
  • Perform additional duties that contribute to the overall student, family, and faculty experience
