About The Position

Oakwood School is seeking a Lower School Recreation Leader & Student Support to assist with the daily needs of the Lower School. This role involves student supervision, providing academic support in classrooms, and leading after-school recreation activities. The position requires collaboration with teachers and administration to ensure a safe, positive, and supportive environment for students throughout the school day. Responsibilities include assisting with small-group instruction, particularly in Language Arts and reading, under the guidance of the classroom teacher and principal. The role also entails supervising students during non-classroom times like recess and lunch, and transitioning to lead recreational and enrichment activities in the After-School Program. The hours for this position are 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, year-round, with an immediate opening.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with schoolwork and recreation activities
  • Coordinate the creation, planning and maintenance of a safe and healthy learning environment
  • Maintain consistent supervision and active involvement with children inside and outside
  • Plan and implement appropriate, engaging activities
  • Maintain a warm, caring and non-judgmental attitude towards children and their families
  • Assist in maintaining equipment and materials in a neat, organized fashion
  • Fulfill campus responsibilities including lunch duty, crosswalk duty, or other duties as assigned

  • Support and follow school policies and procedures
  • Participate in Admission events, including Open House, New Student Orientation, and applicant interviews
  • Attend various staff meetings, Back-to-School Nights, commencement ceremony, and other events as directed
