Francis Parker School seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate teacher to teach our Junior Kindergarten students on the Lower School campus. The Junior Kindergarten program follows California licensing requirements and is designed to provide a nurturing learning environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic development of our youngest learners. The ideal candidate will bring warmth, creativity, and a deep commitment to early childhood education, partnering closely with families and colleagues to ensure every child feels seen, supported, and inspired.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Teaching credential is required
  • Completed 12 or more Early Childhood Education units is required
  • Prior early-childhood, lead teaching experience is required
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate strong instructional and classroom management skills; have an understanding of Responsive Classroom and restorative practices
  • Culturally responsive teaching and experience with the CASEL Standards
  • Strong interpersonal and cultural competency skills when working with students, parents, faculty, and School leadership
  • A strong and sincere commitment to professional development, both in pedagogy and content areas, including an understanding of Understanding by Design, Singapore Math, and the Science of Reading
  • A proficiency in the application of educational technology practices
  • Commitment to being a positive and contributing member of the professional community
  • A desire to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Genuinely love to work with children and educators at the elementary level

Nice To Haves

  • an advanced degree is desirable
  • Child Development Site Supervisor permit preferred

Responsibilities

  • Daily classroom instruction, including planning and teaching in a developmentally appropriate manner, with experience in differentiating instruction
  • Prioritizing and examining inclusive curricula, teaching practices, and environments
  • Compliance and knowledge of California licensing
  • Providing regular and timely feedback to students about the trajectory of their learning
  • Ongoing communication and conferencing with parents/guardians
  • Conferencing with students and colleagues as required
  • Weekly collaboration with the grade level team, ensuring horizontal alignment and consistent assessment practices across the grade
  • Active participation in the curricular improvement of the department in alignment with the Understanding by Design framework
  • Setting, reviewing, and achieving professional goals
  • Provide support as needed for Admissions
  • Ongoing professional development participation
  • Standing duties as assigned
