About The Position

Francis Parker School (Parker) is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate educator for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time position is a one-year assignment with the opportunity to reapply annually. The role involves working with junior-kindergarten students, teaching various subjects, assisting with classroom duties, and coordinating an after-school enrichment program. Requirements

  • Available to work Monday through Friday from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
  • Earned a minimum of 12 units of Early Childhood Education units.
  • Hold current CPR/First-Aid certification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Prior experience working with preschool-aged children, preferably in a school setting, is essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate well with school staff.
  • Ability to quickly learn students’ names.
  • Willingness to work as a strong team member while assisting with the hiring and supervision of staff.
  • Ability to communicate well with parents and manage their concerns effectively.
  • Understand and implement all school safety and security practices.
  • Ability to manage the playground in a manner consistent with school program.
  • Have an abiding interest in helping young people experience success in school.

  • Experience in an after-school/extended-day program.

Responsibilities

  • Work in cooperation with up to 3 junior-kindergarten teachers and 3 associate teachers, ensuring appropriate child-teacher classroom ratios.
  • Instruct a variety of subjects in up to three (3) separate classrooms.
  • Assist with playground duties and provide rotating relief for other JK support staff as necessary.
  • Assist with the creation, acquisition, and management of curricular materials.
  • Provide supervision for Parker Junior-Kindergarten students during after-school hours.
  • Help to plan, coordinate, and manage the School’s after-school enrichment program.
  • Interact with students and provide a positive example during after-school hours.
  • Provide lead supervision during full-day camps, including Spring Break and Mid-Winter Break.
  • Be available during Professional Development Days (one week before school starts, one week after school ends, and 3-4 times throughout the school year) for supervision.
