About The Position

The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of low voltage systems on data center, federal, and secured government construction projects. This position will work with structured cabling, access control, CCTV, audio visual (AV), network infrastructure, and Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) systems. The ideal candidate has experience working in mission-critical environments, understands federal construction requirements, and can maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and security.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of low voltage installation experience.
  • Experience with structured cabling, access control, CCTV, or AV systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass background investigations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance, if required.
  • Must be eligible to access military installations and federal facilities.
  • U.S. citizenship may be required for certain projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on federal construction projects.
  • Data center construction experience.
  • Knowledge of SCIF construction requirements and secure facility standards.
  • Experience with fiber optic installation and testing.
  • Manufacturer certifications (Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Milestone, CommScope, Corning, Panduit, Crestron, Extron, etc.).
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • BICSI certification.
  • Low voltage or electrical apprenticeship training.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, test, and certify copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
  • Install cable pathways including conduit, cable tray, basket tray, J-hooks, and raceways.
  • Perform rack and stack activities, server cabinet installations, and equipment mounting.
  • Label and document all cabling and equipment according to project specifications.
  • Conduct cable testing and troubleshooting using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Assist with commissioning and startup of mission-critical systems.
  • Install and configure access control systems including card readers, biometric devices, door position switches, request-to-exit devices, and electrified door hardware.
  • Install and support CCTV surveillance systems and associated network infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot security system components and connectivity issues.
  • Maintain compliance with federal security requirements and project standards.
  • Install and terminate AV cabling including HDMI, CAT6, fiber optic, and control wiring.
  • Install displays, projectors, video walls, conferencing systems, microphones, and speakers.
  • Assist with testing and commissioning of AV systems.
  • Support troubleshooting and integration activities.
  • Assist in the installation and construction of SCIF environments.
  • Support implementation of ICD 705 and federal security requirements.
  • Install alarm systems, secure communications infrastructure, and specialized security devices.
  • Maintain strict handling of controlled and sensitive information.
  • Coordinate with government representatives and security personnel when required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Complete daily reports, quality control documentation, and installation records.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, quality control personnel, and other trades.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company assets.
  • Travel to project locations as required.
