About The Position

Integrated Protection Systems (IPS) is seeking a detail-driven and forward-thinking Low Voltage Design Drafter to join their growing team in the Phoenix area. The Design Drafter will be responsible for creating precise and impactful design packages, including 2D drawings, Bills of Materials, and 3-part specifications for low-voltage systems such as cameras, access control, structured cabling, AV, and intrusion systems. The role involves maintaining document control, supporting field requests, managing change orders, developing internal product documentation, and independently managing projects. Continuous improvement through advanced CAD features and AI tools is encouraged.

Requirements

  • Two-year technical degree in drafting or design
  • Experience with AutoCAD LT and/or Revit LT
  • Knowledge of drafting standards and processes
  • Awareness of AI tools available for drafting and design
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to train on our product lines
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Self-starter mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing construction documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Knowledge of low-voltage systems (Access Control & Camera Systems)

Responsibilities

  • Creating clear 2D drawings for cameras, access control, structured cabling, AV, and intrusion systems, including full Bills of Materials
  • Performing required calculations to ensure dimensions, tolerances, and specifications are accurate
  • Maintaining document control and revision tracking; supporting field RFIs and as-built updates
  • Creating and maintaining 3-part specifications for architectural documents
  • Initiating and managing the Change Order process
  • Assisting in the development and documentation of engineering, drafting, and release standards
  • Communicating design intent with clients and participating in design meetings
  • Developing internal product documentation (drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs) for new and existing solutions
  • Independently managing both small and large-scale projects
  • Continuously improving drawing efficiency by using advanced CAD features and AI tools to reduce errors and speed development
