If selected, you will... Review all lot drainage plans submitted to Land Development as part of the building permit process for compliance with the Unified Development Code. Provide on-site inspections of private, public, and county-owned property; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, statutes, and County ordinances. Offer backup support for Land Development Inspectors in their inspection activities. Provide support in the review of site development permit plans and right-of-way use permits.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or its equivalent and 4+ years of total experience in inspecting.
- Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.
- Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
Nice To Haves
- Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector Certification, or the ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire. (We can help with this!)
- Experience reading and interpreting subdivision, drainage, and construction plans and specifications.
- Knowledge of stormwater hydrology and hydraulics, drainage construction methods, surveying, pavement design, and erosion control practices.
- Experience conducting field inspections and working with the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in drainage and stormwater infrastructure projects.
- Strong communication and computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn County systems such as Accela, GIS, and Workday.
Responsibilities
