About The Position

The Loss Prevention Intern works closely with the Safety Manager and Plant Leadership team on tasks and projects that help ensure plant compliance with rules and regulations. The role supports safe upkeep of buildings and equipment and helps model and train employees in safe behavior. The internship provides experience with safety programs in a dairy manufacturing environment and opportunities to contribute to business-impacting projects and gain manufacturing and leadership experience.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s program in Occupational, Environmental Safety & Health; Industrial Technology; Engineering; or a related program, as a candidate for graduation.
• Results-driven and bottom-line oriented, with a desire to exceed goals and motivate self and others to achieve positive outcomes.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of motors, pumps, agitators, gears, and drives.
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and field-specific software.

Responsibilities

• Learn how safety programs operate in a dairy manufacturing environment.
• Help identify workplace safety hazards and recommend improvements.
• Support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) activities.
• Assist with incident and near-miss investigations and corrective actions.
• Review and update safety procedures, policies, and training materials.
• Gather and analyze safety data to measure improvement efforts.
• Work with plant employees, Safety Committees, and other teams on safety projects.
• Present key projects and lessons learned at the end of the internship.
• Help ensure safe upkeep of buildings and equipment and model and provide training on safe behavior.
