About The Position

The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role identifies and resolves internal and external theft, conducts apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines, and participates in investigations and surveillance as assigned. The detective communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives and supports store shrink-reduction goals and programs.

The position promotes honesty, integrity, confidentiality, and safety, and provides customers with timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service. It also involves completing and distributing accurate, timely paperwork; maintaining appropriate evidence; understanding law enforcement procedures; and participating professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls. The role coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management and follows all labor laws, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs.
• Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
• Conduct apprehensions within established policies and guidelines.
• Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
• Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
• Follow established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
• Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service.
• Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
• Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
• Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
• Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
• Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
• Maintain appropriate evidence, demonstrate understanding of law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed.
• Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
• Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
• Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
• Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
• Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
