About The Position

An early-career Risk Control professional responsible for conducting virtual Risk Control assessments for Commercial Property and Workers’ Compensation accounts. The position uses virtual survey technology, including MirrorMe, to conduct live facility walkthroughs, interview insured representatives, identify exposures and controls, and prepare Risk Control reports to support underwriting. This position requires good communication skills, basic knowledge of commercial property and workplace safety exposures, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently within established Risk Control guidelines and procedures. The role is designed to provide development across Technical Services, with opportunities to be cross-trained in recommendation response review and quality control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Risk Management, Insurance, Occupational Safety, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–3 years of Risk Control, loss prevention, safety, insurance, or related experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic Commercial Property and/or Workers’ Compensation loss prevention principles.
  • Ability to identify common workplace hazards and property exposures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable interacting directly with insureds and conducting interviews and virtual facility walkthroughs.
  • Ability to document observations and prepare clear, concise Risk Control reports.
  • Ability to independently manage assigned work and meet established service expectations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn Risk Control technology platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience conducting Commercial Property and/or Workers’ Compensation Risk Control surveys.
  • Experience with virtual inspections, video-based assessments, or similar technology.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, basic fire protection concepts, and general loss prevention practices.
  • Experience developing or communicating Risk Control recommendations.
  • Professional designation or progress toward a designation such as ARM, ASP, CSP, CPCU, or similar.
  • Interest in developing additional skills in recommendation response, report review, and Risk Control quality control.
  • Understanding of how Risk Control information supports underwriting decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts virtual Risk Control surveys for Commercial Property and Workers’ Compensation accounts.
  • Uses MirrorMe and other available technology to conduct virtual facility walkthroughs with insureds.
  • Gathers information, evaluates exposures and controls, and documents findings.
  • Prepares Risk Control reports for underwriting.
  • Evaluates building construction and occupancy, fire protection, housekeeping, electrical and life safety conditions, workplace safety practices, material handling, machine guarding, ergonomics, employee exposures, and other property or Workers’ Compensation risk factors.
  • Communicates identified concerns and recommendations.
  • Documents survey findings.
  • Works with underwriting and internal Risk Control partners when additional information or follow-up is needed.
  • Assists with recommendation response reviews and quality control activities within Technical Services (as experience is gained).
