About The Position

West Bend is looking for a Loss Control Representative to join our growing team. This position is field-based, covering the Raleigh/Durham area in North Carolina, and involves working from your home office. The ideal candidate should either reside in the Raleigh/Durham region or be willing to relocate to serve this area. The role involves conducting onsite calls to provide risk assessments and service to prospect, new quote, and existing accounts. Risk assessments include physical surveys, investigating risk exposures/accidents, analyzing risk experience, developing service plans, and providing recommendations. The representative will consult with underwriters to determine account and risk acceptability, provide verbal and written correspondence to underwriting, and work with agents to foster and develop relationships and secure new business. The role requires effectively managing a service territory, working with customers to ensure safety planning is in place, and conducting training presentations to business clients, large groups, or associations. Training presentations may be conducted in-person, and occasionally on a weekend.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in safety, loss control or related field
  • Demonstrates independence by servicing large/complex accounts of various classes of business with little guidance and shows the ability to successfully address and reduce loss drivers
  • Demonstrates a willingness to coach and mentor co-workers, take on advanced projects, engage with internal and external peers to solve problems, attend professional development conferences and/or is involved with professional associations to expand their network
  • Previous experience working for/with a multi-line insurance carrier
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven interpersonal, presentation, marketing, oral and written communication skills
  • Problem solving, critical thinking, active listening, negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Loss Control, Risk Management, Safety, Insurance or related field
  • Designation in safety, health or insurance (CSP, ASP, ARM, CRM, CIC, CPCU, etc.)
