About The Position

Longleaf Aide - Cognitive Care. This is a full-time position where you will perform routine duties in accordance with established Christwood methods and techniques at a high standard of care. You will provide personal care and assistance to residents as needed, administer treatments, and carry out procedures following proper instructions. The role emphasizes fostering self-respect and a feeling of worth in each resident through consistent understanding and kindness, encouraging maximum independence in all activities. You will observe and report changes in residents’ physical and emotional condition to the Charge Nurse, maintain a clean and comfortable environment, and assist with resident admissions, discharges, and transfers. Preventing the spread of infection through established precautions is crucial. Continuous learning is encouraged through attending staff meetings, classes, and in-service programs.

Requirements

  • Shall be able to read, write, and follow oral instructions.
  • Ability to move throughout the facility promptly, especially in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and up to 150 lbs. with the assistance of one.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and reach.
  • Must be able to push and pull a resident in a wheelchair.
  • Good visual and hearing acuity required.
  • Good verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be able to walk or stand for up to 80% of the workday.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer High School Graduate or its equivalent.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Louisiana preferred.

  • Assist in admitting, discharging, and transferring residents.
  • Prevent spread of disease or infection by following established precautions (i.e., proper hand washing techniques, proper handling of contaminated items, etc.).
  • Attend staff meetings, classes and ongoing in-service programs to improve knowledge and skills.
