About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a Long Term Substitute Teacher at Youngstown Academy of Excellence in Youngstown, Ohio. The role is dedicated to providing a superior education for students and bringing the curriculum to life in a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. Youngstown Academy of Excellence serves students in grades EK–8 and offers a college-preparatory education featuring daily Spanish instruction, STEM, and career readiness.

Requirements

Active and current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to properly manage confidential information.
Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
Experience working within an urban environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as needed during the school year.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
Manage student behavior in the classroom.
Create a positive classroom environment for students to learn in.
Use school-approved curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of students.
Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
Communicate and meet with families regarding students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities, as needed.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
