About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring long-term substitute teachers in New York City for the 2026–27 school year. Teachers work five consistent days per week in the same school and teaching assignment, with the opportunity to choose assignments and locations. School start and end times vary, so candidates must be available within a 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. window. The role provides classroom experience at private and charter schools across NYC and may offer access to full-time teaching opportunities.

Requirements

• Completed bachelor’s degree, as required by NYC.
• At least one year of experience working with K–12 students.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Availability within the 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. window, with start and end times varying by school.

Nice To Haves

• Preference for candidates able to work at least three days per week.
• Preference for candidates willing to commute to two or more boroughs.
• Include all relevant experience working with students on the resume.

Responsibilities
