About The Position

St. Mary Catholic School located in Hagerstown, Maryland is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher. The Long-Term Substitute Teacher is responsible for the direct supervision, instruction, and support of students during a teacher's extended absence. This individual will implement lesson plans and curriculum provided by the principal or absent teacher, maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, monitor student progress, assign and review homework, and ensure accurate attendance records are maintained. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management skills, effective communication, flexibility, and a commitment to fostering the academic, social, and spiritual development of students in a Catholic school setting. The Long-Term Substitute Teacher will collaborate with school administration, faculty, students, and parents to ensure continuity of instruction and a successful learning experience for all students.

Requirements

Knowledge of child development and supervision.
Experience teaching in an elementary school setting.

Nice To Haves

Degree in Elementary Education preferred.

Responsibilities

Participate in the active supervision of students at all times.
Oversee the instruction of students following the plans provided by the regular teacher.
Follow daily routine of teacher and fill in for duties outside the classroom such as morning drop-off or pick-up as needed.
Work collaboratively with other teachers, assistants, staff and administration.
Interact effectively and respond to communication in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner.
