About The Position

Integrity Educational Services is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher (certified or uncertified) for the Lighthouse Academy district. This role involves serving at Lighthouse Eagle Village in Hersey, MI, and potentially other Lighthouse Academy sites in West Michigan, including community, residential, and juvenile detention programs. Integrity Educational Services is the educational provider for Hope Academy and Lighthouse Academy, focusing on youth and adults in various programs. The position is ideal for individuals passionate about education, committed to a values-driven team, and eager to serve at-risk youth.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours), or, obtain an Associate’s Degree (or higher).
Experience working with youth and/or families.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to do simple computations, calculate percentages, and use a calculator.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to apply verbal de-escalation skills as part of crisis intervention.
Ability to work as a part of a team.
Knowledge of Microsoft applications and/or willingness to learn needed computer skills specific to this position.
Must pass criminal history records search, physical and drug screen, if required.
Associate (Required)
1 year of experience working with at-risk youth (Required)
1 year of k-12 substitute teaching experience (Required)

Nice To Haves

Experience working in an educational setting is preferred.
Teaching Certificate with applicable endorsement preferred.
If candidate has an interest in becoming certified as a teacher, we will explore the option of helping the teacher become certified.

Responsibilities

Providing appropriate educational experiences to meet the needs of enrolled youth.
Lesson planning when completing a Long-Term assignment.
Achieving outstanding student achievement results and relentlessly pursuing increased student learning.
Leveraging the student support network to address students’ social, emotional, nutritional, and health needs.
Motivating students and influencing their behaviors through building meaningful and caring relationships.
Collaboratively creating and executing clear and logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student learning, with input from team members, when on a Long-Term assignment.
Designing and utilizing formative assessments to modify and adjust instruction daily, when on a Long-Term assignment.
Successfully engaging at-risk youth with cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Helping to create and thrive in a professional environment of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability.
Seeking out knowledgeable peers, coaches, or administrators for instructional support.
Assisting with coverage of eating areas during breakfast and lunch, if applicable.
Assisting with coverage during arrival, passing, and dismissal times at school.
Actively participating in and contributing to weekly team meetings examining students’ educational, advocacy, or support needs, when on a Long-Term assignment.
Collecting and analyzing student data, when on a Long-Term assignment.
Performing all other duties as assigned.
