About The Position

Ohio Substitute Teacher Services (OSTS) is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for an Intervention Specialist role at Mayfield Middle School. This position is ideal for retired teachers, recent college graduates, or individuals new to substitute teaching. OSTS provides support throughout the hiring process and can assist with credentialing. The role involves facilitating student education in the absence of the regular teacher and making a positive impact on students' lives.

Requirements

• Clean criminal record, verified through FBI and BCI background checks dated within 365 days of hire.
• Hold at least a Bachelor's Degree in any field.
• Provide three professional references.
• Either obtain an Ohio Department of Education Substitute Teacher License or possess a Teaching License.
• Complete SubSkills Online training (if applicable contingent after hire) and submit all mandatory professional development modules and activities using PublicSchoolWorks as a platform.
• Communicate accurately and effectively, both in writing and orally.
• Maintain an acceptable attendance record and be punctual.
• Adhere to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.

Responsibilities

• Follows lesson plans provided by the absent classroom teacher to ensure continuity of education.
• Maintains a neat and orderly classroom environment.
• Ensures student supervision and never leaves students unattended.
• Keeps students safe and engaged in the learning process.
• Monitors student progress and provides assistance as needed.
• Maintains existing classroom management and discipline procedures.
• Understands and adheres to school policy and procedures.
• Provides written feedback to the regular classroom teacher regarding the day's activities and student behavior.
• Maintains accurate attendance records.
