About The Position

This role is for a Long Term Substitute Teacher for High School Math, specifically teaching Algebra 1 and Geometry. The position is scheduled from August 31, 2026, to December 4, 2026. The daily rate is $240 for 65 days. The position offers holidays off, as well as Christmas and Spring Breaks.

Requirements

• MI Certification (RX): $240 daily for 65 days
• Subjects: Algebra 1 & Geometry
• Michigan Teaching Certificate with an (RX endorsement) Math endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Curriculum: Follow existing lesson plans or design age-appropriate activities aligned with early learning standards if none are provided.
• Differentiate Learning: Support varied developmental stages, learning styles, and individual student needs, including basic special education accommodations or IEP goals.
• Assess Progress: Track student participation, complete basic grading or developmental tracking, and keep detailed daily records for the returning teacher.
• Maintain Nurturing Structures: Keep firm, warm, and predictable routines for five- and six-year-olds, utilizing clear multi-step directions and smooth transitions.
• Positive Reinforcement: Use gentle redirection, praise, visual cues, and interactive attention-grabbers (like songs or clapping patterns) rather than punitive measures.
• Parent Collaboration: Update families on classroom activities, behavior milestones, or concerns via email, notes, or phone calls.
• Staff Integration: Attend grade-level team meetings, collaborate with neighboring teachers, and check in regularly with school administrators.
