About The Position

Ashland Middle School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Long-Term Substitute Teacher to teach Grade 7 Engineering from end of August through December 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on engineering instruction that fosters creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking. The position includes planning and implementing lessons aligned with district curriculum, assessing student learning, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and collaborating with colleagues to support student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive learning environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Massachusetts teaching license in Technology/Engineering preferred.
  • Math or science license also acceptable.
  • Experience teaching middle school students preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Grade 7 Engineering classes using established curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Facilitate hands-on engineering and design challenges that encourage student inquiry and innovation.
  • Assess student progress and provide timely feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and participate in faculty meetings and professional responsibilities as required.
