About The Position

EF Academy New York is seeking a qualified and engaging Long-Term Substitute Physics Teacher to provide continuity of instruction for high school students during an extended faculty leave. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, inquiry-based Physics instruction, maintain a supportive and academically rigorous classroom environment, and assess student learning in alignment with the school's curriculum and expectations. The assignment is expected to last approximately three months or longer and pays $25.00 per hour.

EF Academy is a private boarding and day high school serving students from around the world at campuses in Pasadena, New York, and Oxford. Its educational approach emphasizes academic excellence, personal growth, and cultural immersion.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Physics, Science Education, or a related field.
• Prior experience teaching high school Physics, ideally within an IB Diploma Programme or AP Physics curriculum.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience working with diverse, international student populations.
• Adaptability, collaboration, and the ability to quickly establish positive relationships with students while maintaining high expectations for teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver effective Physics lessons aligned with existing course objectives.
• Facilitate hands-on laboratory investigations and inquiry-based learning.
• Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate with students, families, and colleagues as needed.
• Collaborate with the academic team to ensure continuity of instruction.
• Maintain a supportive and academically rigorous classroom environment.
