Long Term Substitute - Mild Interventions
About The Position
The Long Term Substitute provides classroom instruction and facilitates student learning in the absence of the regular teacher. The substitute follows lesson plans, creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests, and maintains a safe and orderly setting. The position is based at Washington Middle School and is available beginning November 2, 2026. Salary is commensurate with education and experience: $256.83 per day for an entry-level licensed teacher or $175 per day for a substitute holding a valid Indiana Substitute Permit. This position is eligible for employee medical coverage; further benefits information is provided upon appointment.
Requirements
- At least 30 college credit hours.
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment.
- Maintain the established routines of the school and assigned classroom.
- Maintain a professional appearance as an example to students.
- Remain at school for the entire school day unless instructed otherwise by the building principal.
