About The Position

George Walton Academy (GWA) is an independent, Pre-K -12, college-preparatory school seeking an engaging, energetic Long-Term Substitute Math teacher for High School Geometry for the 2026-2027 school year. The position is estimated to be from September 21 to November 18, with flexibility preferred from September 1 to November 30. GWA aims to inspire lives of intellectual curiosity, integrity, and purpose through challenging instruction, engaging experiences, and global perspectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• 3+ years of high school (or similar) teaching experience, preferably in Math within independent schools
• Experience with a broad range of instructional practices
• Criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Teach six classes and possess the ability and skills to successfully teach Geometry to High School students
• Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
• Create and sustain a positive classroom culture, based on the mission and values of the school
• Observe/evaluate/assess students' development and maintain accurate records regarding student progress and areas of growth
• Enrich or modify lessons, curriculum, materials and resources as needed to meet differentiated student needs and varying levels of progress inside and outside of the classroom
• Communicate openly, timely and supportively with students, staff, parents and other stakeholders regarding student achievement and progress
