About The Position

This position is for a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for a 1st-grade class at Concord East Side School. The primary function is to plan and implement learning activities aligned with the Corporation’s educational programming to continuously develop students’ knowledge and skills so that they are prepared to pursue college and/or career opportunities. The role requires creating a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment, planning and implementing learning activities aligned with Indiana Academic Standards, assessing and monitoring student learning, and maintaining collaborative relationships with parents and families. The substitute will also be expected to continuously learn and develop new skills to promote student learning and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • The education and educator license or permit required by the Indiana Department of Education

Responsibilities

  • Recognize the basic dignities of students, parents and families, colleagues, and subordinates.
  • Exercise due care to protect the mental and physical safety of students.
  • Create a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment that promotes students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Plan learning activities that are aligned with Indiana Academic Standards.
  • Implement learning activities using Corporation-adopted curricular materials that promote active student learning.
  • Assess and monitor students’ learning to provide responsive instruction.
  • Initiate and maintain collaborative relationships with students’ parents and families.
  • Continuously strive to learn and develop new skills to promote student learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
