About The Position

The Long-Term Care Billing Specialist ensures accurate and timely monthly billing to all payors and maintains resident accounts receivable records. This role works collaboratively with other team members to support billing, census, and compliance functions while providing excellent service to residents and families.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain billing processes clearly
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident and company information

Nice To Haves

  • Accounting education and/or experience preferred
  • Third-party billing and long-term care billing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform all functions associated with issuing claims and statements for services provided
  • Complete all collection-related activities for fees due
  • Maintain accurate accounts receivable records and monitor AR balances to ensure integrity of the Aged Trial Balance
  • Stay current on healthcare billing rules, regulations, and best practices, with a focus on long-term care
  • Complete and publish AR, census-related compliance, and statistical reports
  • Perform daily census updates and admission/discharge profile reporting, ensuring resident profiles are accurate and complete
  • Assist with billing and collections in other billing areas of the Central Billing Office as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with staff involved in resident admission and discharge processes
  • Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with residents, families, fiscal intermediaries, and internal team members
  • Explain long-term care billing clearly and compassionately to residents and families
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of PHI and company records
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
