About The Position

This internship position at Lone Pine State Park involves assisting visitors, developing and delivering educational programs, leading hikes, assisting with school field trips, gift shop retail sales, light building/grounds/trail maintenance, janitorial duties, and other assigned tasks. The intern will also be involved in volunteer recruitment and community outreach with AmeriCorps staff, and will assist Park Managers in developing a vegetation management plan and forest inventory for all Region 1 state parks. The position requires the applicant to be currently enrolled in college/university and remain enrolled throughout the internship. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, often in adverse conditions including temperature extremes, snow, rain, dust, and mosquito-infested areas. The role involves public interaction, potential lifting of over 25lbs across rugged terrain, and may require some travel. Variable hours, weekends, and holidays are expected.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a college/university and enrolled through the duration of the internship.
