About The Position

This is a full-time, 2nd shift position (3 PM - 11:30 PM, Monday-Friday with rotating weekends) in the Enterprise Corporate - Supply Chain: Operations department at Lutheran General Hospital. The role involves managing inventory, receiving and delivering shipments, and maintaining general stores. The Logistics Technician is responsible for various inventory management tasks, including 2-Bin inventory management, picking and pulling inventory, delivering replenishment orders, restocking bins, checking for expired products, performing supplement restocks, picking up empty bins and product returns, conducting monthly inventories, and using DemandTrack for inventory assessment. The role also involves utilizing automation for receiving and distribution chain of custody, cycle counts, and managing General Stores inventory. This includes maintaining a clean work environment, rotating stock using a First Expired, First Out (FEFO) approach, performing cycle counts with a low error rate, and carrying a pager for prompt response to customer requests. Additionally, the technician will perform receiving functions for incoming orders, review orders for accuracy, identify quality issues, and deliver inbound product. Distribution responsibilities include inventory management for requisitioned items, picking and delivering orders, coordinating product returns, and managing non-compliant product. Picking responsibilities involve meeting specific line-per-hour benchmarks, ensuring accuracy, managing 2-Bin inventory locations, using designated picking automation, and releasing picked orders. The role also includes managing non-conforming product incidents, maintaining non-conforming bins, and communicating trend information to clinical leadership.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • 12 months experience; stocking experience and/or receiving experience preferred.
  • Experience with mainframe or PC computer systems

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all assigned 2-Bin inventory locations, ensuring proper placement, organization, and adherence to standards.
  • Pick and pull regularly scheduled inventory to replenish all assigned inventory locations with 100% accuracy.
  • Deliver all 2-Bin replenishment orders to the appropriate 2-bin inventory location.
  • Restock all 2-Bins with picked items, perform inventory cycle counts to ensure accuracy, and check for expired product, replacing it with appropriate product.
  • Perform supplement restocks when requested.
  • Pick up all empty bins and product returns from assigned inventory locations and return them to General Stores.
  • Perform monthly 2-Bin inventory of designated locations.
  • Understand and use DemandTrack for assessing and tracking inventory velocity and usage, making PAR adjustment recommendations.
  • Use automation for all General Stores cycle counts scheduled by the Supply Chain Leader.
  • Use receiving and distribution chain of custody automation for documenting chain of custody of all incoming shipments and outgoing General Stores issues.
  • Use automation to pick, issue, deliver, credit, and administer all General Stores product, including crash carts and inventory carts.
  • Properly gather and remove all product delivery skids and debris within the General Stores environment.
  • Rotate all inventory in assigned areas of the General Stores, ensuring a first expired, first out (FEFO) inventory management approach.
  • Perform assigned inventory locations, including inventory management and associated inventory valuation levels for the overall General Stores, as well as assigned inventory locations, cycle count and associated error rate, days on hand inventory levels, and potential overstock and obsolete inventory levels.
  • Maintain a superior level of housekeeping in all areas of the General Stores, including picking up debris, breaking down cardboard, and disposing of items not in assigned locations.
  • Perform regular cycle counts for all assigned inventory areas within the General Stores, maintaining a cycle count error rate of five percent (5%) or less.
  • Carry any assigned pager/portable telephone for expeditious response to customer requests.
  • Maintain a trend chart of the total inventory valuation for assigned inventory location within General Stores on a monthly basis.
  • Perform receiving functions for all incoming orders.
  • Review all incoming orders for accuracy and correlation to appropriate PO and ship-to location.
  • Identify incoming quality issues and errors and interface with applicable customer service representatives.
  • Perform all receiving functions via the scanning technology and work standard provided.
  • Maintain a clean work environment on a daily basis, performing all housekeeping functions as needed or assigned.
  • Deliver all inbound product received, including analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting for all incoming product that is not properly identified.
  • Clean and disinfect patient care equipment according to Infection Control policies.
  • Perform inventory management and an accurate pick process for all requisitioned inventory items.
  • Pick and deliver all requisitioned orders or other product to the requester, utilizing bar code scanning technology.
  • Coordinate reviewing and obtaining all non-compliant product placed into any green bin within any assigned inventory location.
  • Return all General Stores equipment used for Distribution to General Stores when use is complete.
  • Coordinate product returns from assigned requisitioning locations back to the General Stores.
  • Pick a minimum of 100 lines per hour, achieving this benchmark within an acceptable timeframe, but at no time picking less than 60 lines per hour.
  • Ensure the accuracy of inventory picks and be responsible for the cycle count error generated within the inventory area of responsibility.
  • Develop a corrective action plan to mitigate cycle count errors and chart a trend chart of the cycle count error rate.
  • Be responsible for the inventory pick associated with all 2-Bin inventory locations assigned, complete with returning the empty bins to the General Stores.
  • Use the designated picking automation and associated process to perform all inventory picking/replenishment process.
  • Release all picked orders using Lawson WH32.2 and sign paperwork.
  • Utilize and follow the process and procedures with the assigned velocity picking format to ensure proper utilization of inventory product.
  • Analyze the non-conforming product incident rate by SKU for any assigned inventory location.
  • Make process improvement recommendations to mitigate the recurrence of non-conforming supplies.
  • Maintain the non-conforming green bins, placards and laminated job aids in all inventory locations, as assigned.
  • Rotate all stock located in the respective inventory location bins or kardex, ensuring a first expired, first out (FEFO) approach.
  • Pick up all non-conforming product from the green bins on a frequency no less than weekly.
  • Communicate non-conforming clinical supply trend and analytical information to the appropriate clinical leadership.
