About The Position

The Logistics Support Technician will report operationally to the SOMSS Program Manager and be assigned work by the Designated Government Representative (DGR) in charge for 10th Space Operations Squadron (10 SOPS). The Logistics Support Technician is responsible for comprise planning, managing, directing, and controlling of infrastructure resources to ensure principal support services provide efficient and effective facilitation of satellite operations and administration. Logistics support provides the infrastructure resources to allow operations and administration efforts to occur. Logistic support services encompass tasks in areas of supply support, property management, and shipping and receiving services.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years’ experience with the Military Supply/Logistics System

  • Completion of US Military Supply/Logistics courses/training highly desired

Responsibilities

  • Establish standard use stock levels for office supplies and office equipment supplies to meet normal demand
  • Replenish stock levels to maintain available standard supplies at all times but shall not carry more than an average 30-day on-hand supply unless authorized by the DGR
  • Initiate a purchase request clearly identifying items required for re-stock/replenishment for procurement by Government Purchase Card holders
  • Submit purchase requests NLT 7 working days in advance of when the requested items are anticipated to be needed in stock
  • Perform research in determining best sources, lowest price, and availability for standard and non-standard supplies
  • Perform shipping and receiving services to include packing, unpacking, weighing, coordinating pick-up and deliveries with package courier services to ensure all incoming and outgoing shipments are handled in a timely manner
  • Obtain written DGR approval for all shipments
  • Maintain a ready stock of shipping supplies in order to support all shipping and receiving functions performed
  • Pack all outgoing material in an appropriate manner to prevent damage during shipment
  • Move and position all incoming and outgoing shipments that require the use of appropriate handling equipment (such as forklift) and also move equipment and material based on DGR requests
  • Inspect all incoming material and resolve any discrepancies/damage that may have occurred during shipment, generate all shipping and receiving documentation
  • Provide property management services to support the DGR by designating a single POC for performing the property management support function
  • Perform administrative efforts such as record, log, inspect, label and inventory all government property and enter the information into the Defense Property Accounting System (DPAS)
  • Support the DGR in Updating DPAS records to accurately reflect all receipts, transfers and losses, location, and identification of responsible official
  • Process all excess equipment for reutilization including receive excess equipment from detachments, and delivery of all excess equipment to Defense Reutilization Management Office (DRMO)
  • Support the DGR in conducting physical inventories and reporting results of inventories conducted including condition of all property
  • Conduct annual inventory accounting for 100 percent of inventory and provide inventory results to the DGR no later than 20 January of each year
  • Conduct investigations on all discrepancies/losses identifying circumstances leading to the loss and providing recommendations on appropriate course of action
