About The Position

This role oversees materials management, inventory control, warehouse operations, and shipping/receiving activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Materials & Supply Chain Supervisor leads material handling teams, ensures accurate and timely material flow to production, and supports production schedules through effective planning and coordination. The position uses ERP and MRP systems to manage inventory movement and operational metrics, while driving continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse and supply chain operations. The supervisor promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and employee development, and plays a key role in enhancing operational efficiency and on-time delivery performance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in materials management, logistics, supply chain, warehouse operations, inventory control, or manufacturing operations.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory management and inventory control processes.
  • Experience with material planning and material flow coordination in a production setting.
  • Proficiency in warehouse operations and warehouse management practices.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving operations in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Working knowledge of ERP and MRP systems for managing inventory, materials, and production requirements.
  • Experience with cycle counting and inventory accuracy programs.
  • Experience in supply chain coordination and logistics operations.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data, monitor KPIs, and support decision-making.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address material issues, process bottlenecks, and operational challenges.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations for materials management, warehouse activities, inventory control, shipping, receiving, and material handling teams in a heavy production environment.
  • Plan and assign work for hourly shop employees, ensuring clear priorities, efficient task allocation, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Coordinate material flow to ensure production teams receive materials on time, in the correct quantities, and in alignment with production requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counting programs and effective material replenishment processes.
  • Support production planning by aligning labor resources, inventory availability, and material readiness with production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on material flow, inventory management, warehouse efficiency, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Manage manpower planning, staffing schedules, labor allocation, and workflow balancing to meet changing operational demands and production volume.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve material shortages, bottlenecks, and operational constraints.
  • Utilize ERP and MRP systems to track inventory movement, material requirements, and key operational metrics, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
  • Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, labor productivity, and warehouse performance.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring safe working practices and compliance with safety policies throughout warehouse and production support areas.
  • Ensure the quality and efficiency of production-related activities while maintaining on-time delivery and customer service expectations.
  • Implement and uphold policies and procedures related to materials, warehouse operations, and production support, and recommend improvements to methods and processes.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment utilization, operating procedures, and working conditions to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Lead employee coaching, performance management, and training to build a high-performing team and support workforce development.
  • Support and champion Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and process improvement programs throughout the facility to reduce waste and improve flow.
  • Coordinate logistics activities and supply chain operations to ensure smooth integration between warehouse, production, and outbound shipping functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely shipping and receiving processes, including documentation, system transactions, and physical movement of goods.
  • Maintain a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within the materials and logistics organization.
