About The Position

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for managing various teams within the shipping and receiving departments, including Shipping and Receiving Clerks, Logistics Coordinators, and Material Handlers. This role involves identifying requirements for international shipment documentation, leading cost reduction and continuous improvement programs, and developing and implementing logistics sourcing strategies. The supervisor will also develop and execute negotiation strategies for logistics services, including transportation, warehousing, and freight bill auditing. Collaboration with internal stakeholders is key for establishing Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) and Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS). The position involves budget development and accountability, supplier quotation evaluation, and management of shipping schedules to ensure accuracy and condition of shipments. Coordination with Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing departments is required for shipments with special requirements. The role also includes managing material receivables and stockroom activities, ensuring employees have the necessary tools, and fostering a safe work environment. Supervisory functions such as talent acquisition, performance management, and employee relations are also integral to this position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years logistics and logistics contract negotiation experience, preferably in the electrical/power component industry.
  • Minimum 1 year of proven supervisory experience
  • Expertise in executing Receiving/Inventory Control through Oracle Systems

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing Shipping and Receiving Clerks, Logistics Coordinators and Material Handlers within the shipping and receiving departments.
  • Identify requirements for proper documentation for customs on international shipments
  • Provide leadership in on-going cost reduction and continuous improvement programs.
  • Develop, implement and execute logistics sourcing strategies, practices and procedures in alignment with business unit leaders.
  • Develop and implement negotiation strategies for logistic services; including, but not limited to all types of inbound and outbound transportation, warehousing, crating/packaging, freight bill auditing
  • Works closely with internal stakeholders to establish correct Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
  • Develops and is accountable for budget/standard cost for quarterly/annual operating and long range planning.
  • Provide for the evaluation of supplier quotations utilizing appropriate negotiation and procurement analysis techniques and implementation of proper contracts with emphasis on quality, price and service.
  • Manages shipping schedule and oversees incoming and outgoing shipping and receiving activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Coordinates with Engineering, Project Management and Manufacturing departments for advanced identification of shipments with special requirements for permits, routes and equipment.
  • Identify requirements for proper documentation for customs for international shipments
  • Manage all facets or material receivables and stock room activities.
  • Ensures employees have proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and that the tools are routinely inspected and maintained.
  • Create and sustain a safe work environment.
  • Delivers supervisory functions including, but not limited to, talent acquisition, performance management, and employee relations.
