About The Position

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within their assigned area, focusing on safety, efficiency, and team development. This role involves enforcing safety procedures, promoting company culture, coaching drivers, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. The supervisor will manage driver onboarding, training, payroll, and performance, while also understanding and communicating financial impacts. Problem-solving, cost control, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations are key aspects of this position. The role also includes managing equipment maintenance and repairs, planning driver utilization, and participating in daily planning meetings to ensure on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • Effective written and verbal skills.
  • Basic understanding of trucking operations including dispatch and hours of service.
  • Ability to work while being exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Ability to learn internal Enterprise Resource Planning system.
  • Consistently exhibits and displays the company’s values of “Own It. Can Do. Act in Love.”
  • Two-year degree in logistics, supply chain, management, or general business field and a minimum of two years of experience in a leadership role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency, especially in Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Epicor, Samsara (or other fleet tracking software), and TMS software.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and enforce all safety procedures and use all applicable personal protective gear.
  • Ensure safety goals are achieved and safety performance continually improves.
  • Observe and document near miss/accident reports.
  • Promote and develop company culture and engagement of drivers through regular contact.
  • Develop team through constant On the Job Training and coaching.
  • Promote regular and productive communication with drivers.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities to improve performance in safety, RMA, on-time performance, and site/company key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Utilize visual methods in daily operations, including safety, RMA, on-time performance, and site KPIs.
  • Conduct interviews for driver positions.
  • Lead driver onboarding and training activities, creating and executing individual training plans.
  • Manage vacation schedules and review/approve weekly payroll.
  • Maintain flexibility of work schedule for after-hours calls.
  • Monitor driver performance and implement individual goals to improve overall team performance.
  • Understand and communicate location financials and the team’s impact on them.
  • Perform problem-solving activities for delivery and production, including root cause analysis and validated corrective actions.
  • Understand cost control and its impact on the assigned area, including CTTI, routing, and driver utilization.
  • Ensure team is knowledgeable of company Safety/DOT/Regulation controls and reinforce this knowledge.
  • Assist with maintaining driver qualification records.
  • Ensure RMA corrective actions are executed and required feedback is delivered to internal/external customers.
  • Inspect condition of equipment and schedule repairs.
  • Ensure on-time completion of PM’s on all assigned equipment.
  • Train and drive operational principles centered around Continuous Improvement, 5-S, waste elimination, and RMA reduction.
  • Plan and balance driver utilization based on workload and schedules.
  • Actively participate in daily planning meetings and drive actions to ensure on-time delivery.
