About The Position

As part of MPLX, a midstream company majority owned by MPC, Logistics & Storage Engineering (L&SE) is an engineering service and project management organization comprised of engineering and other resources that primarily manage project work associated with Marathon Pipe Line (MPL), Terminals, and Marine organizations within MPLX. Marathon Petroleum prides itself on having the highest level of safety and quality in the industry, and we expect our project engineers to hold themselves to that high standard as well.

Requirements

Earned Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution (December 2026 or May 2027 graduate).
Strong academic performance.
Zero (0) to three (3) years of related experience.
Successful completion of a Marathon Petroleum (MPC/MPLX) internship/co-op is required.
Valid driver's license for work-related travel.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Manage and successfully implement a portfolio of diverse projects at company facilities, ranging from small maintenance tasks to new multi-million-dollar developments.
Guide projects through the 5 phases of the Marathon Project Management Process (MPMP): Conceptual, Feasibility, Definition, Implementation, and Start-up/Close-out.
Collaborate with affected departments during project development to vet resource estimates, schedules, business benefits, and environmental/health/safety impacts.
Support project detailed design and technical reviews to ensure designs meet corporate engineering standards.
Prepare bid requests for material, labor, and equipment, and evaluate proposals based on sound engineering and business principles.
Support multiple projects simultaneously of varying magnitude and complexity from conception to commissioning and start-up.
Act as a safety leader, upholding company core values and prioritizing personal and process safety.
Prepare and lead engaging project safety meetings, drive safely, utilize the MOC process, and support the development and implementation of business partner energy isolation procedures.
Support department and company HES goals.
Troubleshoot operational issues and optimize processes using sound engineering practices.
Participate in project safety reviews, including HAZOPs, PHAs, PSSRs, etc.
