About The Position

As part of MPLX, a midstream company majority owned by MPC, Logistics & Storage Engineering (L&SE) is an engineering service and project management organization comprised of engineering and other resources that primarily manage project work associated with Marathon Pipe Line (MPL), Terminals, and Marine organizations within MPLX. Marathon Petroleum prides itself on having the highest level of safety and quality in the industry, and we expect our project engineers to hold themselves to that high standard as well.

Requirements

Earned Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution (December 2026 or May 2027 graduate).
Strong academic performance.
Zero (0) to three (3) years of related experience.
Successful completion of a Marathon Petroleum (MPC/MPLX) internship/co-op is required.
Valid driver's license for work-related travel.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Management and successful implementation of a portfolio of diverse projects at company facilities, ranging from small maintenance tasks to new multi-million-dollar developments.
Guiding projects through the 5 phases of the Marathon Project Management Process (MPMP): Conceptual, Feasibility, Definition, Implementation, and Start-up/Close-out.
Collaborating with affected departments during project development to vet resource estimates, schedules, business benefits, and environmental/health/safety impacts.
Supporting project detailed design and technical reviews to ensure designs meet corporate engineering standards.
Preparing bid requests for material, labor, and equipment, and evaluating proposals on sound engineering and business principles.
Supporting multiple projects simultaneously of varying magnitude and complexity from conception to commissioning and start-up.
Acting as a safety leader who upholds company core values and prioritizes personal and process safety.
Preparing and leading engaging project safety meetings, driving safely, utilizing the MOC process, and supporting the development and implementation of business partner energy isolation procedures.
Supporting department and company HES goals.
Troubleshooting operational issues and optimizing processes utilizing sound engineering practices.
Participating in project safety reviews including HAZOPs, PHAs, PSSRs, etc.
