About The Position
Logistics Specialist develops and implements least-cost strategy for transportation and distribution of finished and unfinished products within the organization and customer market by performing the following duties:
Requirements
- Develops and implements least-cost strategy for transportation and distribution of finished and unfinished products within the organization and customer market.
Responsibilities
- Secures transportation availability for all logistical needs.
- Supports transportation functions during emergency situations.
- Follows standardized processes while performing dispatch duties for assigned locations.
- Works with logistics team members to coordinate asset sharing and identify efficiencies.
- Maintain rate databases and assist sales with quotes.
- Develops working relationships with current and new carriers; understands and identifies advantages by engaging carrier strengths.
- Reviews third party performance and carrier sourcing.
- Facilitates communication between sales, customers and carriers as needed for successful, timely deliveries.
- Participates in business development and special projects.
- Contributes to company transportation decisions; exploits cost-savings opportunities for transportation and logistics.
- Participates and contributes to company safety program.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
