About The Position

As a Logistics Specialist at ProEgg, you will be responsible for analyzing, executing and optimizing transportation operations across the network, with a strong focus on carrier management, rate negotiation, and service performance. This role serves as the primary logistics authority for the company and plays a critical part in controlling freight spend while ensuring reliable, on-time delivery to customers. Under the oversight of the Warehouse Manager, you will manage day-to-day freight movements, build relationships with carriers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels in a fast-growing agricultural cooperative.

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business or related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in supply chain logistics, transportation, brokerage, or dispatch, or combination of related education and/or equivalent experience required.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the US, without employer-sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor industry standards, trends, or practices to identify developments in logistics planning or execution.
  • Analyze freight spending and lane performance to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve product movement efficiency.
  • Manage day-to-day logistics operations, coordinating transportation, including scheduling, dispatching, and tracking inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Source, onboard, and manage third-party carriers to support freight needs across lanes.
  • Build and maintain strong carrier relationships to improve capacity, service, and responsiveness.
  • Responsible for contract negotiation, vendor selection, and design logistical strategies.
  • Negotiate freight rates with carriers and brokers to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Oversee end-to-end logistics communication and monitor shipment execution, ensuring timely pickups/deliveries targets are met and proactively resolving delays, service failures, and accessorial issues.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records, rates, and carrier performance data within TMS or internal systems.
  • Learn the fundamentals of procurement, including supplier coordination and order management.
  • Review operational and customer data to perform ad hoc analysis that supports process improvements and strategic decisions.
  • Identify routing and load optimization opportunities to maximize equipment utilization and reduce empty miles.
  • Partner with warehouse and operations teams to ensure alignment of shipping schedules and priorities.
  • Track and report on key logistics KPIs, including on-time performance, cost per mile, and carrier scorecards.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives within transportation operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
