About The Position

The Logistics Specialist supports the timely and cost-effective flow of raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the supply chain. This role coordinates inbound materials for production, manages outbound shipments to customers and distribution centers, and works closely with production planning, procurement, and warehouse teams to prevent delays, shortages, or excess inventory. The Logistics Specialist also monitors inventory levels, maintains accurate documentation, and helps improve logistics processes to enhance overall supply chain efficiency.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of logistics or supply chain experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of shipping processes, including freight quoting, carrier coordination, and documentation.
  • Understanding of warehouse operations such as picking, packing, staging, and loading.
  • Familiarity with inventory control methods, including cycle counting and discrepancy resolution.
  • Knowledge of packaging standards and material handling requirements.
  • Experience using ERP or order management systems, including platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Working knowledge of MRP and production planning processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis.
  • Proficient in shipping software, online portals, and standard logistics systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately identify parts, match documentation, and pull components as required.
  • Experience with inventory control and warehouse operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally across production, procurement, and warehouse teams.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate outbound shipments of finished goods to customers and distribution centers.
  • Partner with production planning, procurement, and warehouse teams to align material availability with manufacturing forecasts.
  • Monitor inventory levels for raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods to support uninterrupted production.
  • Coordinate inbound materials for production to prevent delays, shortages, or excess inventory.
  • Manage carrier relationships and assist with freight rate negotiations to support cost-effective transportation.
  • Track shipments, proactively identify and resolve delays, and minimize risk to production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Prepare and process all required shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, invoices, and customs paperwork when applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, internal procedures, and safety standards in all logistics activities.
  • Support cycle counts, inventory audits, and materials reconciliation activities to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Analyze logistics performance metrics such as on-time delivery, freight cost per unit, inventory turnover, and supplier lead times.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to reduce waste, optimize transportation routes, and increase overall supply chain efficiency.
  • Coordinate with customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal teams through clear verbal and written communication.
  • Accurately identify parts, match documentation, and pull components as required for production or shipment.
  • Operate or coordinate the operation of forklifts or material-handling equipment, if applicable, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records within ERP, shipping, and logistics systems.
