About The Position

First Solar reserves the right to offer you a role most applicable to your experience and skillset. This role is responsible for obtaining bids and sourcing carrier capacity for projects, negotiating pricing and delivery with key vendors, and supporting the qualifications of new suppliers. The specialist will maintain carrier scorecards, align allocation with high performers, and lead carrier development exercises to improve service. They will also maintain rates in Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) and perform analysis on carrier spend.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a business or supply chain discipline, or equivalent experience required.
Good working knowledge with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Supply Chain.
Experience with MRP concepts and one or more ERP systems (Oracle or SAP preferred).
Comfortable working with engineering databases and discussing specification changes with suppliers.
Proven organizational skills – ability to prioritize.
Proven computer skills, including Microsoft Office or equivalent.
In depth knowledge of TMS concepts.
Demonstrated experience in managing suppliers and supplier relationships.
Demonstrated experience in negotiating cost reductions and terms and conditions.
Proven communications and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Obtaining bids and sourcing carrier capacity for projects.
Negotiating pricing and delivery with key vendors.
Supporting the qualifications of new suppliers.
Maintaining carrier scorecards and aligning allocation with high performers.
Leading carrier development exercises to improve service to both First Solar and external customers.
Maintaining rates in Oracle Transportation Management (OTM).
Performing analysis on carrier spend and speaking to the data.
Managing the commercial relationship between First Solar and its carrier base.
Utilizing OTM and other input from internal stakeholders to determine what items capacity is needed to maintain contractual delivery obligations.
Independently investigating new providers for improved price, delivery, and quality.
Proposing and supporting the qualifications of new providers.
Expediting or de-expediting deliveries to meet changes in delivery or requirements, including working with the larger Logistics team to schedule and arrange timely and cost-effective deliveries.
Notifying carriers of changes in project plans.
Analyzing carrier spend and performance metrics.
Interfacing with all departments and suppliers.
Performing computer input.
Maintaining effective communication levels and fostering team building.
Adhering to all First Solar internal processes and procedures.
