About The Position

South Metro Fire Rescue is currently seeking a Logistics Service Technician. All interested candidates must submit a resume and cover letter. The Logistics Service Technician is responsible for supporting the service and delivery of assets utilized by South Metro Fire Rescue in a manner consistent with organizational goals and values. This position diagnoses, repairs, coordinates repairs, and maintains a variety of equipment, tools, and engines. In addition, the Logistics Service Technician serves as a courier to retrieve and deliver assets from various locations. This position addresses issues and concerns requiring technical proficiency and exceptional customer service skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in logistics and/or small engine repair.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the SMFR’s Driving Records Policy.
  • Able to achieve and maintain SMFRA Forklift Certification within one (1) year of hire.
  • Must obtain CPR certification within one (1) year of hire.
  • Knowledge of Denver Metro area, fire department facilities and major street intersections.
  • Knowledge of procurement procedures and practices.
  • Skill in small engine diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, sit, walk, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to use sound judgment.
  • Ability to meet and maintain all security and employment requirements, including successfully passing pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug and alcohol screenings as required for safety-sensitive positions.
  • Ability to comply with and maintain safety standards.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, citizens, and outside vendors.
  • Knowledge of basic computer systems and the ability to use a variety of complex software and data management systems.
  • Knowledge of warehousing software and related office and warehousing equipment.
  • Skill in using calculator, copy machine and other office equipment.
  • Skill in communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Ability to operate a computer terminal, keyboard, printer, telephone, and other standard office equipment with proficiency.
  • Ability to operate equipment used in a warehouse environment including dollies, pallet jacks, and truck lifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in warehousing, customer service and computer knowledge with certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of tools, medical, and fire related equipment; troubleshoots and diagnoses issues in alignment with SMFR, state, and federal guidelines and requirements.
  • Maintains accurate records of service, maintenance, and repair work utilizing asset management and financial systems.
  • Ensures all chemicals, fuels, cleaners, and degreasers are used in compliance with the Colorado Department of Health and the Environmental Protection Agency’s guidelines and regulations.
  • Prepares asset maintenance and inspection records and reports, as required.
  • Obtains certifications or recertifications for equipment that requires certification to be serviced including medical, extrication, and life safety equipment, in addition to warranty repairs.
  • Maintains customer service focus for internal and external customers.
  • Receives input and direction from supervisor.
  • Performs repetitive work in building supply bins and sealing them for delivery to the fire stations.
  • Coordinates deliveries and pickups between stations/departments according to schedules, routes, and supervisor’s priorities.
  • Coordinates deliveries and pickups with external vendors for products and services.
  • Serves as courier or coordinates resources to deliver and retrieve assets from various destinations, including the administrative office, fire stations, hospitals, vendors, etc.
  • Drives various District vehicles (truck, van, or passenger vehicle) to deliver and pick up merchandise.
  • Complies with District policies and regulations; follows orders and adheres to SMFR’s code of conduct while on duty.
  • Performs annual physical inventory as required and meets with auditors and finance as necessary.
  • Works as a liaison between the line staff and the Logistic Bureau.
  • Attends bureau, division, and team meetings.
  • Participates in rotating on-call shifts; responds to calls in support of mission critical needs when necessary.
  • Serves as a backup to other logistics personnel and participates in bureau wide initiatives related to procurement, special projects, and transportation logistics.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
